Tempest Reactor

Tempest Energy Systems, an associated company of SDC Industries Ltd, provides a comprehensive range of filter, detuning (iron cored) and inrush (air cored) reactors designed as standard, or to suit specific customer requirements.

Each standard reactor is designed to ratings of 25KVAr, 50KVAr and 100KVAr at 415 Volts, Single or Three Phase, 50Hz, and are available for ex-stock delivery.

These ratings are designed for a detuning frequency of 189/210Hz, however, alternative ratings and tuning frequencies are available upon request.

Reactors are used in a wide variety of applications, including :

  • Switchboards
  • Motor Control Centres
  • Drives
  • Process Controls
  • Power Factor Correction
  • Marine Applications

Tempest Energy Systems reactors have a core of MAGNETIC STEEL. Windings are manufactured in COPPER to specification
BS-EN60317 and impregnated in polyester resin to Temperature Class H.
The maximum operating temperature of our reactors is 180°C. If the temperature exceeds this level, the inbuilt thermal switch will activate, disconnecting the circuit.
These reactors are extremely robust, and can withstand exposure to high voltages.
