HARMONIC FILTRATION
Harmonic Filters are designed to neutralise voltage and current interference produced by:
- PCs
- Lights
- Lifts, and other electrical equipment.
SDC Industries design and manufacture a range of Passive and Active harmonic filters to combat this problem to within G5/4 limits.
PROBLEMS Caused by Harmonics:
Network: There are a number of problems caused by harmonics in your network, including increased power losses, strong electromagnetic fields, interference on the network and failure in remote control systems.
Computers: Harmonics increase the risk of malfunction and interference.
Power Factor Correction Capacitors: Capacitors are extremely sensitive to harmonics. This can result in increased power losses, decreased operating life, the risk of resonance and higher dielectric capacitors required.
Transformers: Harmonics can cause Increased power losses, decreased operating life, noise and temperature rises.
Cables: Harmonics are responsible for increased level of power loss and the risk of fire.
BENEFITS of utilising Harmonic Filtration:
By installing Harmonic Filtration, you can protect your power system in the following ways:
Increased efficiency in low voltage network:
- Reduction in transmission losses
- Increased loadability of the existing network and cables
- Lower temperature of cables, switchboards and transformers.
Increased Efficiency:
- Less power, more load
- Less maintenance
- Longer lifespan of lamps and capacitors.
More Reliability in system:
- Reduced temperature of network devices
- Increased maintenance intervals
- Longer lifespan of the network.
